Space Fight

Welcome to the project page for the space-invaders-on-steroids game I am currently creating. More info soon!

Graphical Resources

Here are the four sprites used: the player, the enemies and the two asteroids. Note that the asteroids have changed somewhat since the above screenshot was taken. They were modelled in Blender and then rendered to yield a 2D image. The black background will appear transparent in game. None of the sprites are particularly detailed, but when scaled down as in the above image, they are sufficient – at least for testing purposes!

Game Features

So what happens in ‘Space Fight’? The player, in a small fighter, must fly though a randomly generated and ongoing slew of small and large asteroids, and enemy spacecraft. The goal, of course, is to survive as long as possible (hopefully to the end of the level) and to destroy as many enemy spacecraft as possible. Destroying small asteroids may also occasionally yield money which can then be used for upgrades.

Not sure, but it could be a while. I’m really busy at the moment, sorting out a draft research paper for my masters. I’ll try and finish it over the Easter break, maybe. There’s still a lot of work to be done on it…

As for tutorials, I haven’t even much time for them right now. That said, I’m going to try and get a few up before Easter :)

    What’s with this project?

How do you mean? I’ve stopped work on it at the moment, I had difficulty reconciling my momentum based physics engine with the gameplay flow. Hopefully I’ll finish it in the end, but I’m working mainly on updating this site for now.
